Course Administrator's Report

Currently, we have 45 different classes running on our Zoom accounts. Twenty-four are open to the general membership and the rest are closed as they have specific requirements. A number of other classes are also operating on either Facetime, private Zoom accounts or another platform.

In the last four weeks there have been 2449 attendances at 154 class sessions on Zoom.

Many thanks to Ken, Valerie and the support team. Without their commitment we would not have been as successful as we are with Zoom.

Eastern Region Webinar

I attended a webinar run by the Eastern Region of U3As of which Valerie is the Convenor. The webinar was on “Handling Difficult Behaviour”. It was interesting to hear the problems some U3As have and how they deal with them. Fortunately, I was able to tick all the boxes that the presenter put to the attendees on the processes we at Nunawading take in such circumstances.

AIUTA Competition

The International Association of the University of the Third Age (AIUTA) is an international movement, which has a presence in a lot of countries worldwide. However, U3As are not standardized which is why U3A in each country may differ and adapt to local requirements.

AIUTA are currently holding a major international competition for U3As worldwide. There are five categories and if you have any of the skills to enter I encourage you to do so. The theme of the competition is “The art of living under all circumstances”.

Category 1. Poetry: You write a poem on the theme of “seniors and the art of living under all circumstances.

Category 2. Drawing and painting: Using any medium you prefer with the theme the same as category 1.

Category 3. Creativity: This can be creating all kinds of things using cut paper, origami, or another medium you like. Create what you want according to your skill. There is no theme for this category.

Category 4. Singing: Record or write a song about U3A, which may become the next official anthem of the U3A. There is no theme for this category.

Category 5. Photography sports: Take a picture of yourself or your activity and share your sportsmanship. Add in a few comments about your photo.

If you would like more information or would like to take a part in any of the above, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will send you an enrolment form.
